Strong winds kicked up burning embers from the Primghar city yard dump Tuesday October 6. Embers flying through the air landing in a dry bean field nearby is the suspected cause.

Seven heroic bystanders acted quickly, disced up part of the field to hold the flames while Primghar Fire Department brought 8 emergency vehicles to extinguish the fire. No one was hurt and the field suffered minimal loss.

Josh Haack describes the fire as fast-moving, even jumping the blacktop. He also expressed gratitude for the rapid response of farmers seeing the smoke and the fire department
