Reverence and Serenity

HiView Gardens is a plot of land nestled into a corner of ground near the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway M12 east of Sutherland. The triangle of ground features a veterans’ memorial, walking path and an assortment of small gardens. When traffic is light the area is peaceful. It is always beautiful. With the veterans’ memorial on-site adds an element of reverence perfect for reflection.

HiView Gardens offers it solace and rejuvenation from volunteerism and donations. Mowing alone, according to Chuck Kummerfeldt, “runs about $700 a year.” Volunteers work together to plan and build small gardens from time to time. Flowerbeds and bushes dot the immaculate grass.

HiView Gardens is running low of funds for its maintenance. For those interested in keeping the beauty of this welcoming corner post to the City of Sutherland in its tip top condition, donations can be dropped off at J&K Insurance office in Sutherland or mailed to PO Box 494, Sutherland, Iowa 51058.
