The P4 bridge over Waterman Creek northeast of Sutherland is nearing completion. Graves Construction is doing the installation. The new bridge spans 149 feet over the banks and accommodates IDNR's new water flow recommendations.
A steel truss bridge that crossed the creek for about a century was toppled by raging flood waters in the spring of 2019. Funding to replace the bridge was in doubt for some time due to its low traffic count and a $1 million estimated price tag. The crossing is used for purposes deemed essential.
