The South O'Brien FFA Conduct of Meetings Team placed 1st and received a Gold rating at the Northeast Sub-District FFA Contest held in Milford. The team then placed 3rd, received a Gold rating, and was named the Alternate to State at the Northwest District Convention at Sibley.

Each member of the team selected an officer position for this contest. Members included Dante Johnson (Advisor), Grant Wagner (President), Hudson Oolman (Vice President), Jacob Van Lith (Secretary), Kyan Kruse (Treasurer), Abby Stout (Reporter), and Leo Sells (Sentinel).

This contest is meant for FFA members in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade. Each team must properly conduct a chapter meeting. The team members present their officer part to the opening and closing ceremonies and then demonstrate two parliamentary procedure abilities. Teams are given the abilities and items to discuss as they enter the contest room.

This team has competed in this event for two years. "It's a good experience to help with public speaking," Dante Johnson commented. Some members of this team hope to participate in the Parliamentary Procedure LDE next year.

South O'Brien Chapter Advisor, Eric Kumm, commented "What a great group to have represent our chapter. They just did a tremendous job and I'm really proud of the work that this team put in preparing for this event. They had been practicing on their own many times during homeroom since last fall. Our chapter will continue to be in good hands down the road as this group transitions into leadership roles."
