Susan (Susie) Rae Van Heuvelen

April 23, 2020

Susan Van Heuvelen, known to friends and family as "Susie," passed away on March 30, 2020, at home in Hiram, Georgia, at the age of 65.

Born and raised in Primghar, Iowa, Susie attended the University of South Dakota-Vermillion, where she studied and shared her talents for her passion – music. She carried those talents with her throughout her travels, especially to Colorado where her music and soul found perfect communion, always believing the earth has music for those who listen.

Susie was naturally beautiful and by all definitions a free spirit, honest and unconventional. She was intimate with her soul, her passion was inspiring, and her inner beauty shone through for all to see. She was loved for who she was – a loving mother, caring daughter, spirited and supportive sister, entertaining aunt, and an awesome friend.

Susie is survived by her daughters Willow and Alyssa, sisters Sandy (Jim) and Beth (Jeff), brothers Greg and Todd (Pam), beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, a host of friends, and her beloved fur companion Thunder. She was preceded in death by her father Ray Van Heuvelen; mother Florence Schoening and father Orville Schoening.

An intimate family Celebration of Life will take place at a future date. Susie loved her many pets over the years and shared that love with her beautiful daughters. Gifts in Remembrance of Susie will be donated to the American Humane Association to ensure the continued safety, welfare, and well being of animals and may be sent to The Family of Susie Van Heuvelen; 5102 Stoneleigh Circle; Brentwood, TN 37027.
