Former South O'Brien Athletes earn All-Conference Honors


(Orange City, IA) Three former South O'Brien athletes have enjoyed successful seasons and All-Conference honors as part of the Northwestern College Athletic program. Luke Jenness (Primghar, IA) freshmen wrestler at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, has enjoyed an outstanding inaugural season as a Red Raider. Jenness not only fashioned an outstanding team-leading 26-6 record, he won the GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference) individual championship in the 184 pound division. With his conference wrestling title, Jenness earned a berth in the NAIA National Wrestling Championships, March 6-7, in Park City, Kansas.

Peyton Brasser, sophomore, Northwestern College, earned All-Conference honors in two indoor track and field events in Mitchell, South Dakota, as Northwestern College Men's Track and Field team competed in the GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference) Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 22. Brasser's first All-Conference effort was anchoring Northwestern's 4 X 800 relay team to a second place finish with a 1:59 effort. Brasser's second All-Conference effort of the day, came in the open 800, with a 6th place finish of 19 finalists. Brasser has now earned six GPAC Track and Field All-Conference finishes so far in his career.

Ben Aberson, senior, Northwestern College, earned All-Conference honors with an 8th place in the Mile run, with a 4:41 clocking. Aberson has earned two All-Conference finishes during his career. The GPAC Indoor Championships were held on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University in their newly constructed Fieldhouse on their 200 meter indoor track.
