Lady Wolverines hold down HMS

South O'Brien pulled away over the final three quarters to bag a 46-26 victory over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn January 28 at Paullina. The Wolverines trailed 6-5 after one quarter before turning things in their favor.

Kaylee Jacobs was 7-of-9 at the free throw line and finished with a game-high 19 points. Taryn Hintz scored 12 points and helped get the Hawks' bigs in foul trouble. Rounding out the Wolverine scoring were Willa Sickelka and Anna Friedrichsen with four points apiece, Riley Draper with three points, Sydney Struve with two, and Skye Rehder and Abby Schreck each with one

Assists leaders were Jacobs with three dimes and Sickelka with two. Hintz pulled down seven rebounds and Friedrichsen secured four caroms. The 25 South O'Brien steals featured seven from Jacobs, five from Hintz and four from Rehder.

HMS was limited to 19 percent shooting with just eight field goals in 43 attempts. The Wolverines were 15-of-47 from the floor for 32 percent. They weren't hurt by their 15 misses in 28 tries at the foul line. The Hawks sank 10 of their 19 free throws.
