Defense is the name of the game as Wolverines stifle Trinity

February 6, 2020

A smothering South O'Brien defense held Trinity Christian to just five points in the second half as the Wolverines picked up a 69-21 victory January 30 at Paullina. Bad weather January 17 had forced the War Eagle Conference game to be rescheduled.

The Tigers were held to nine total field goals. Those came on 41 attempts as Trinity registered 22 percent shooting for the night. The Tigers made but two of their 15 three-point tries and were 1-of-4 at the free throw line. South O'Brien shot a healthy 55 percent from the floor with 26 baskets in 47 attempts. From long range the Wolverines were 5-of-11 and from the charity stripe 12-of-18.

Scoring totals showed Jackson Louscher with 21 points, Zeke Lundquist with 15, Caden Hale and Josh Johannsen with nine apiece, Alex Presthus and Jake Wallin each with four, Jarome Jackson with three and Tristan Wilson and Case Moermond with two apiece. Louscher dished off for five assists.

On the glass, Louscher grabbed seven rebounds while Wallin collected six, Lundquist five and Moermond four. Wallin made three steals and Wilson swiped the ball twice. Presthus and Lundquist each recorded a block.
