January 23, 2020

In a battle between rated teams in Class 1A, number ten South O’Brien edged second-ranked Remsen St. Mary’s 45-44 January 13 at Remsen. The victory avenged a 51-40 loss to the Hawks on the home court in mid-December.

Two stalwarts came to the fore for the Wolverines. Jackson Louscher scored 18 points, collected seven rebounds and dished off for three assists. Zeke Lundquist tallied 12 points, pulled down nine rebounds and blocked a pair of shots. South O’Brien got eight points from Tristan Wilson, three from Josh Johannsen and two from both Alex Presthus and Jake Wallin. Wilson added a steal and a blocked shot.

The Wolverines were 17-of-41 from the field for 42 percent. That included 3-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc. The Hawks’ proficient three-point shooters produced eight treys but they came on 24 tries. Overall, St. Mary’s shot 37 percent from the floor (16-of-43). From the free throw line, South O’Brien was 8-of-10 and the Hawks 4-of-7.
