Alumni Basketball Game Held

January 16, 2020

On Saturday, January 11 the South O'Brien Alumni game was held at the high school gym in Paullina. The teams were set up to be divided up as even as possible. The organizers tried to keep brothers or guys that had perhaps played around the same era together, while still trying to make them as even as possible. Substitutions was the responsibility of each team. Some players only wanted play a few minutes each game which worked out well for the guys that wanted to have more play time. Overall, there were 37 alumni players involed and attendance to the event was over 100

The late Kirk Struve was our Honorary Captain for the game. A signed Basketball by all the alumni players was presented to his parents. (Chris & Craig Struve, his wife Heather was unable to attend due to being sick that day). Kirk’s son Damon (class of 2016) played in the game.

About $1,200 was raised this year.

Results were the following:

Game 1: 62 Silver team over 38 Black team

Game 2: 46 Grey team over 39 White team

Game 3: 58 White team over 51 Black team

Game 4: 61 Silver team over 42 Grey team.
