South O' Brien National Honor Society takes part in an Adopt-A-Family service project every year during the holidays. It begins with a student/staff Volleyball tournament that the NHS students host. The fundraiser this year raised in $390. In addition, MercyOne Hospital in Primghar also did their part to help with this cause. They generously donated $300 to the NHS Adopt-A-Family project.

Several students with NHS Advisor Abby Fish spent Sunday, December 8, shopping for Christmas gifts. Members of NHS were honored to sponsor three families this year. The students who helped with this project enjoyed shopping for clothes and toys, and they enjoyed making Christmas better for the families. "It feels good to help families. We appreciate those who participated in the Volleyball tournament and the donation from MercyOne," said Senior NHS President Shelby Enger. Advisor Mrs. Fish said, "Every year we bring joy to families during the holiday season, but shopping brings just as much joy to our NHS members. Seeing the NHS members so passionate about helping families in O'Brien County is something special. I am thankful for the NHS members, school, and community members who help make this project possible."
