Anna Friedrichsen kills the ball at the net during South O'Brien Wolverine Volleyball tournament action Saturday in Hartley.

South O'Brien played 3 games Saturday at Hartley in the HMS tournament. They walked away winning 1 match, 2 games to 0, against Rock Valley. Game scores were 21-16 and 21-7.

SOCS fell to Newell-Fonda and Gehlen Catholic 1-2 each. Scores against Newell-Fonda were 12-21, 21-18 and 12-15. Perfect served performances came from Riley Draper, 8 for 8; Anna Friedrichsen 12 for 12 and Willa Sickelka 6 for 6. The team served up 4 aces from 4 players. Taryn Hintz scored on 11 kills. Syndey Struve scored on 8.

Gehlen Catholic scores were 23-21, 10-21 and 13-15. Struve was the strong server placing 9 for 9 with an ace. Sickelka delivered 2 aces from her perfect 5 serves. Friedrichsen also delivered 2 aces and 12 out of 13 starts. She also marked 2 solo blocks. Rehder's 2 aces came from her 9 of 10 deliveries. Her performance included 3 kills, 17 assists, 12 digs and a solo block. Hintz, always strong at the net, struck 14 kills and a solo block.

Monday evening brought Remsen St. Mary to Paullina. SOCS make quick work of RSM with game scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-8.

Friedrichsen and Struve each drilled 5 aces and Rehder added another 4. Draper, Grace Furhman and Hintz each scored on 2 serves. Kaidee Weber scored on 1 serve. Avarie Honkomp plays a good net. On Monday she marked 5 blocks, 3 of them were solos. Hintz struck 14 kills; Struve scored on 7, with Friedrichsen drilling 6 kills.

South O'Brien sit at 9-8-0 as tournament play approaches.
