South O'Brien Travels to Orange City

The short trip to Orange City to face the Unity Christian Knights on the Volleyball court took place Tuesday September 10. Unity is the current state 2A runner up. The always strong team swept the match with scores of 18-25, 16-25 and 24-26.

The Wolverines put up good defensive numbers and showed teamwork. They stopped Unity attacks with 6 block assists and 2 solos, 1 each from Sierra De Boer and Avarie Honkomp.

Determination to kept the Wolverines in each of the games. The team marked 64 digs led by Breanna Bottjen with 21. Sydney Struve marked a dozen and Willa Sickelka put up 11 digs. Taryn Hintz' 10 digs can't be overlooked. Every team member is credited with 2 or more digs.

Skye Rehder's teamwork with 21 assists was irreplaceable. Other assists came from Hintz and Struve.

Hintz' 15 kills was a team high. Eleven more kills were scattered throughout the team members.

Serving might have been a bit weak, putting just 81.8% of the serves into play. Struve put 12 of 14 into play and 2 aces, a team high. Hintz served up 11 of 13 efforts and Anna Friedrichsen delivered 9 out of 12 with the Wolverines' final ace. Sickelka's 100% helped the teams efficiency. She hit 5 of 5. Rehder placed 4 of 6 and Bottjen hit 4 of 5.
