September 19, 2019

1220 2nd Ave in Sheldon to be auctioned as surplus property by the county.

At a Public Hearing held in board chambers on Tuesday September 10 to designate property owned by O'Brien County as surplus property. No one was present and no comments were received by the public on the matter. The Board of Supervisors designated a lot with a garage at 1220 2nd Ave in Sheldon as surplus. The council then determined a manner in which to dispose of the property.

A physical auction at the property is scheduled for Friday October 18 at 12:15pm. The O'Brien County Sheriff's office is conducting the auction. When there appears to be a winning bidder, the auction will be suspended for one and one half hours so the apparent buyer can secure payment with a cashier's check and deliver it back to the auctioneer. A Quit Claim deed will be transferred immediately upon payment. A minimum $30,000 bid has been established. Open houses have been set for Monday Sept 30 and Tuesday October 1 from 5:00 - 7:00pm.
