Bison Burger Picnic and Lawn Concert at Priairie Heritage Center

August 29, 2019

The view from the new observation tower allows visitors to see a 360 degree view of the Prairie Heritage Center and a better view of the bison in the prairie grass.

The annual bison Burger Picnic and Lawn Concert sponsored by the Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association and the O'Brien County Conservation Board was held on Tuesday evening, August 20 at the Prairie Heritage Center west of Peterson. The event is a great opportunity for the public to see the changes that have occurred at the Center over the past year.

The highlight of the evening was the new observation tower! Visitors were able to Climb to the top of the tower to enjoy the view and see the bison.  Funds raised this year will be used to help with the construction costs for the platform.   The project has been partially funded by an O'Brien County Community Foundation grant.  Del Walinga and Modern Woodmen of America has pledged to match funds donated up to $2,500.

The menu for the event included bison burgers, hot off the grill, served with side dishes and watermelon.

After the meal, those attending could enjoy a pleasant evening listening to music by Bill Carpenter and Mel Kimblad, performing as the Itty Bitty Boji Band.

Attendance at this event helps make great things happen for O'Brien County Conservation and at the Prairie Heritage Center.
