For those of you willing to give time and energy to the operations and policies of your city or school district, the opportunity is now. Nomination papers can be picked up at your local city office or at the O’Brien County Auditor’s office in Primghar.

There are no county supervisors whose term expires this year. School board members at the end of their terms are Board President and at-large representative Tom Wagner, Julie Paulsen, District #2 who is completing the term of Sue McCauley who moved out of her area, Todd Faust, #4 and Sandy Fritz #5. Any person over age 18 and living within the district they wish to represent can pick up nomination papers at the School Superintendent’s office. To be nominated an individual must obtain 30 signatures of legitimate voters living within the South O’Brien School District.

Sutherland has 3 seats up for reelection: Steve Koch, Bruce Engelke and Jack Wallinga. For those interested in serving on the Sutherland City Council to a 4-year term, nomination papers can be picked up at City Hall during regular business hours. Ten qualified signatures are required to be placed on the ballot. Completed packets must be returned to City Hall no later than 5:00pm Thursday September 19. Special hours at city hall have been made.

Paullina’s councilpersons up for reelection are Denny Werkmeister, Charlie Harper and John Ihle. Mayor Justin Stamer has also fulfilled his 2-year term. Nomination papers can be picked up at City Hall during regular business hours. Ten qualified signatures are required to be placed on the ballot. Completed packets must be returned to City Hall no later than 5:00pm Thursday September 19. Special hours at city hall have been made.

Council members Kevin Smith, Doug Harms have completed their 4-year terms and are up for reelection in Primghar. Mayor Kurt Edwards’ 2-year term is also complete. For Primghar residents interested in vying for any of these government positions, nomination papers are available at Primghar City Office during regular business hours. Completed nomination papers can be returned with the 10 qualified signatures no later than 5:00pm Thursday September 19 to City Hall.
