The FFA Poultry Evaluation Career Development Event provides an opportunity for FFA members to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Poultry Evaluation. Activities included: placing classes of live poultry; placing and grading classes of ready to cook poultry; grading classes of egg interiors and exteriors; identifying and grading further process poultry products, and a poultry production examination. There were 407 members participating from 110 chapters.

The South O'Brien FFA Team of Sean Negus, Anthony Sells, Hudson Oolman and Leo Sells placed 5th overall, 1st in Egg Grading, 5th Live Poultry Evaluation and 6th in Further Processed Poultry. Individually, Leo placed 1st in Egg Grading.

South O'Brien FFA Chapter Advisor, Eric Kumm, commented "The number of teams competing in this event has more than doubled since 2015 when it was first held in Iowa. South O'Brien is one of only two teams in the state to have placed in the top 10 each year. With two 8th grade members on the team this year, they will be looking to build on their success next year."
