Douma Park Undergoing Major Renovations This Summer

New pads for recreational vehicles laid out at Douma park as the renovations to the park continue.

Douma Park near Sanborn is receiving a major renovation this summer. In 2018 O'Brien County Conservation received a grant for the renovations but delays with paperwork and the government shutdown caused final approval on the project to be delayed until this year.

The campground will be redesigned with fourteen new campsites for recreational vehicles. Each of the sites will have cement pads, rural water, electricity and sewer. Another new amenity for the park will be wireless internet. Additionally the waterfront has been improved with the removal of downed brush allowing easier to the shoreline around the lake.

With the upgrades to this park in the northern half of the county it will provide a wonderful addition to the two parks located in the southern half of the county and a draw to campers along Highway 18.

Access to the park will be limited during the renovation. You can keep abreast of the progress and find other camping opportunities in O'Brien County by visiting the O'Brien County Conservation website.
