South O'Brien broke in the new track on Thursday, May 2, when they hosted the annual Wolverine Relays. Three other teams participated in the meet: Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, Clay-Central- Everly, and Unity Christian.

Hosting the meet required lots of volunteers. Timers, exchange zone officials, and scorekeepers were needed. Athletic Director Kent De Zeeuw was in charge of preparing and running the meet. "Making sure we had enough help and figuring out how to use the timing system were our biggest challenges," De Zeeuw said, "because it was our 1st ever home meet."
