Next Generation of Eldridge Family Purchases Funeral Homes

Primghar, Iowa, April 17, 2019 –Ben and Sara Eldridge are the new owners of the Eldridge Family & Vander Ploeg Funeral Homes in Paullina, Primghar, Sheldon and Boyden. The younger Eldridges recently purchased the four homes from Ben’s parents, Peter and LaNan Eldridge. Ben and Sara began this transition in 2011 when Ben joined the family business after completing his schooling. Sara became the full time bookkeeper for the funeral homes late last year. O’Brien County Economic Development Corporation is proud to support this business succession through an O’Brien County IRP Revolving Loan Fund Loan for the Primghar, Sheldon and Boyden locations. Ben and Sara are honored to continue a four decades old tradition of providing funeral home services with respect and dignity.

O’Brien County Economic Development, in conjunction with the O’Brien County Revolving Loan Fund Committee, has approved financing for this new business. The Revolving Loan Fund is used to attract, retain or expand business or industry. Revolving loan funds may be used for the following: Land purchases, Building purchases, Building Construction, Machinery purchases, Equipment purchases and any other uses deemed appropriate by the RLF Committee.

O’Brien County Economic Development Executive Director, Kiana Johnson, commented, “O’Brien County

Economic Development Corporation is honored to be part of this business succession. We have four communities in O’Brien County and the surrounding area that will greatly benefit from this successful transition to the next generation.”
