Wolverines start track and field season at Dutch Relays

Alex Presthus ran the 800 leg for the fourth place distance medley at the Dutch Relays

The South O'Brien boys track and field team got the outdoor season underway at the Dutch Relays held April 2 at Northwestern College in Orange City. The Wolverines scored 83 points to finish fifth in Class B.

Matt Riedemann captured the 110 meter hurdles event in a time of 16.43. Right behind in second was Case Moermond with a clocking of 17.87. The shuttle hurdle relay claimed first as well, finishing in 1:09.40. Riedemann also came out on top in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6' 1". Other individuals who placed second were Layn Case in the long jump (17' 10") and Tristan Wilson in the 100 meters (12.54).

Shot Put: Thomas Nelson, 6th, 38' 2-1/2"; Noah Fuhrman, 8th, 35' 11".

Discus: Kanner Bauer, 5th, 120' 7-3/4"; Nelson, 6th, 113' 1-3/4".

100 Meter Dash: Tristan Wilson, 2nd, 12.54; Freddy Stevens, 6th, 13.15.

200 Meter Dash: Sean Negus, 3rd, 24.79; Austin Paulsen, 7th, 25.98.

400 Meter Dash: Riley Davis, 8th, 1:00.40.

Gavin Leng finished the Dutch Relays 800 meter run in sixth place.

800 Meter Run: Gavin Leng, 6th, 2:20.27.

3200 Meter Run: Eric Mars, 7th, 12:33.75.

110 Meter Hurdles: Riedemann, 1st, 16.43; Case Moermond, 2nd, 17.87.
