Snow Days and Make-up Days Explained

Over the last few months, the South O'Brien area and most of the Midwest have battled extreme winter weather. With the extreme conditions comes late starts, early dismissals, and no school days for students and staff at many schools, including South O'Brien. That means the possibility of making up days for students and staff.

The State of Iowa is very strict on the required school hours for students. Previously, the state required students to be in school for 180 days. However, the rules recently changed. Now students are required to attend 1,080 hours of school. How that looks from school...
