National FFA week is a tradition at South O'Brien that members love. The South O'Brien chapter has 73 members enrolled. This year, National FFA Week will begin on February 20. South O'Brien FFA Advisor Eric Kumm has celebrated this tradition with the South O'Brien student body for around 24 years. Kumm said, "It's a time we share agriculture with our fellow students and community." The chapter carries out many traditions throughout the week, including a tractor drive, FFA emblem hunt, the making of locker signs, and an "egg yolks in a jar" guessing game. "My favorite part of FFA week is the teacher breakfast because I like bacon," Kumm said. FFA student President Sean Negus said, "We celebrate FFA week because it's a fun way to honor FFA." Students and staff look forward to these events each year.
