Iowa Assessments moving from paper to online

Juniors Shelby Enger and Abrahm Rohwer take a practice Iowa Assessments test online during a trial run February 1.

South O'Brien students in grades 7-11 took an online Iowa Statewide Assessment practice test on February 1. It was used as an infrastructure test. South O'Brien's Technology Coordinator Mary Helfter stated, "An infrastructure test is to help us find weaknesses in our online system while we still have time to make adjustments before the actual testing takes place." Instead of taking the Iowa Assessments booklet and bubble sheet version, students will take the test online this spring.

The state is encouraging all schools to take the exams online to save money and resources. Helfter went on...
