Wolverine defense ravages MMCRU

Layn Case drives the baseline past MMCRU's Joel Johnson in the Wolverines' win.

South O'Brien was relentless in the pressure it applied to MMCRU and came away with a 71-14 win January 11 at Marcus. The Wolverines improved to 5-2 in the War Eagle Conference and 10-2 overall while dropping MMCRU to 2-5 and 2-10.

The Royals were permitted just four baskets in 35 attempts for 11 percent shooting. South O'Brien was successful on 29 of its 64 field goal tries to shoot 45 percent. From the foul line, the Wolverines were 7-for-13 and MMCRU went 4-for-9.

A total of 10 players scored points for the winners. Jackson Louscher tallied 14 points, Zeke Lundquist 11, Layn Case and Caden Hale 10 apiece, Alex Presthus seven, Case Moermond and Jarome Jackson six each, Josh Johannsen three and Tristan Wilson and Sean Negus two apiece. South O'Brien also owned a 44-11 advantage on the boards led by Moermond with seven rebounds and Louscher with six. Louscher also dished for five assists and Case came away with five steals. Presthus recorded two blocks.

The Royals got four points from Robert Russell, three each from Joel Johnson and Cade Pepper and two apiece from Andrew Prescott and Cody Dias. Johnson had the lone assist and Jordan Marks grabbed five rebounds. Johnson, Pepper, Dias and Dean Jenness each blocked a shot.
