Winter Clothing Drive Update

December 13, 2018

“We are overwhelmed with joy and are incredibly proud of how many winter items people around the community brought in. It will help a lot of people,” said Jillian Heemstra, a member of the South O’Brien NHS who helped put together the winter clothing drive. The drive began November 5 and concluded November 20. During the clothing drive, there were nearly 900 items collected, including coats, sweatshirts, snow pants, hats, gloves, scarves, and snow boots.

The items collected were donated to Upper Des Moines in Primghar. The O’Brien County Upper Des Moines center is open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. More information can be found on the Upper Des Moines, Inc. website.

This winter clothing drive was a part of the South O’Brien High School Class Competitions, sponsored by the student council. The juniors won by a landslide with over 300 points, followed by the seniors, sophomores, and freshman.
