8th Grade Boys Battle With Le Mars

South O’Brien- 35
Le Mars- 22
The 8th grade boys Basketball team played a triple-header in Le Mars on Tuesday night. In the first game South O’Brien clamped down on defense to secure the 35 to 22 victory. The Wolverines accumulated 13 total steals as a team. Sawyer Honkomp led the defensive charge with a team high four steals. Jake Wallin led the Wolverine offense with 12 points. He also grabbed a team high ten rebounds, and blocked four shots. Hudson Oolman added six points, while Dain Moermond chipped in four points and grabbed eight rebounds. The 8th grade boys will have two more games before the Thanksgiving break. They will play at Sheldon on November 16th and will host Gehlen Catholic on November 20th in Primghar.

In the second game, the Wolverines jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, but then went cold from the field. The Wolverines tried to make a late game rally, but fell short in a 20 to 16 defeat. The Wolverines were led in this game by Boston Riedemann who had eight points. Leo Sells and Dylan Strubbe each chipped in four points to help the Wolverine cause.

In the final game of the night, the Wolverines held off a late game rally from the Bulldogs to secure the 15 to 10 victory. The Wolverines led by as many as eleven points in the game. Beau Rasmussen led the Wolverine offense with four points. Austin McKinney was the leader on defense with a team high five steals. The Wolverines are now 3-2 on the young season.
