Wolverines nab all-conference and team placings at War Eagle meet

Russel Kenney (569) turned in the second fastest time for South O'Brien in the War Eagle boys race.

South O'Brien claimed two top-four team finishes and three individuals ran their way to all-conference honors during competition at the War Eagle Conference Cross Country Meet held October 12 at chilly Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City. The Wolverine girls placed second and the boys finished fourth.

Sophomores Abby Boardman, fifth place, Lindsay Tull, seventh, and senior Delanie Coady, 13th, were among the top 15 individuals and earned all-conference honors. In team placing, Boardman was fourth, Tull sixth and Coady 12th. Helping the Wolverines to 53 points and second place were sophomore Sophia Faust with a 15th place team finish and junior Emily Chicoine, who was one spot behind. Unity Christian won the conference title with 19 points.

Team placing for the boys included seniors Layn Case in 17th and Russel Kenney in 18th, junior Alex Presthus in 20th, sophomore Eric Mars in 21st and senior Hunter Shannon on 28th. With 104 points, the South O'Brien boys trailed team champ Unity Christian (41 points), Trinity Christian (53) and Gehlen Catholic (99).

Girls Team Results: Unity Christian 19, South O'Brien 53, HMS 60, Hinton 108.

Boys Team Results: Unity Christian 41, Trinity Christian 53, Gehlen Catholic 99, South O'Brien 104, Hinton 119, MMCRU 142, HMS 152.
