J.D. Scholten Releases New Campaign Ad Titled "Showing Up"
Scholten Offers Contrast to King’s Ineffectiveness
October 11, 2018
Sioux City, IA — J.D. Scholten, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. House or Representatives in Iowa's 4th Congressional District against Steve King, released a new campaign ad, titled: “Showing Up.”
The theme of the video relates to how Scholten would treat his constituents. “When I was growing up, we had representatives like Berkley Bedell and Tom Harkin who took the time to show up for town halls in every county and make themselves accessible to the people.” Scholten said. “Steve King hasn’t taken the time to do public meetings or town halls in years, and now refuses to even participate in a debate. He’s been absent from 39% of agriculture committee hearings and 82% of small business committee meetings. He’s spent more time in Austria over the last five years than he has spent in several parts of this district. He simply doesn’t show up. We deserve a representative that works as hard as we do.”
In the past year, J.D. Scholten has held three 39-county tours, the most recent, a tour consisting of a town hall in each of the district's 39 counties.
The ad will be on TV in various cities across the district and can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLYMY9Cy5RM
I’m a fifth-generation Iowan.
This state is in my blood, and it defines who I am.
I was blessed to play Baseball in seven different countries.
But I’m home now, playing for Team Iowa.
And I don’t like what I see.
After sixteen years, I see a representative that does nothing to help us.
Who isn’t showing up, but I am.
Because we deserve a representative that works as hard as we do.
I’m ready to stand tall for all, in Congress.
I’m J.D. Scholten, and I approve this message.
