Manmade Restriction Surprisingly Far Away

For several weeks, Dry Run Drainage, at the request of Drainage District Trustees, have looked for a restriction in the flow of water off a field immediately west of Highway 59 at the intersection with Highway 18. At the September 11 meeting, Trustee Sherri Bootsma updated the board.

The culvert under the railroad tracks is fine. There is a plug east of the gas plant. Several rights of way come into play at that location, IDOT, railroad and drainage district all meet. Highways and railroads cannot, by law, restrict the natural flow of water.
