Dennis Mueller's 3rd Hole-In-One August 18, 2018

August 30, 2018

Denny removing the ball from his hole in one.

Late Saturday afternoon, Denny Mueller, 69, was struggling with his round at the Hyperion Field Club, Johnston, IA, so when he teed up his Titleist on hole #14 his desire to double the wager was not in his bag. With the pin back right he had to take the ball out over the pond and hoped it would land on the green. He was 130 years away when he swung his 8-iron. The ball took a majestic flight landing 22 feet from the pin and then headed for the pin. The next thing we saw was the ball disappear into the cup and Mr. Mueller leaping in the air.

Mr. Mueller is the 2nd known person in the 100-year history of Hyperion Golf Club to sink a hole-in-one on all three par 3 holes.

Denny next to his Congratulations sign.

Witnessing the shot was myself (H. Dana Bentzinger who provided us this information), Randy Clarkson and Dave Jenkins.

By the time the round was completed, word had spread among the golfing members and congratulations were rolling in from his friends. Denny graciously bought drinks for all those willing to listen to his description of the shot, including his wife, Pam, who showed up for the celebration.

By the way, earlier this month I also witnessed Denny making an eagle on #10 at Hyperion. His drive took him to within 70 yards of the green and then he holed out his wedge.

Next month Denny will be heading across the pond to play five Scottish courses including St. Andrews. I plan on being there, too.
