Primghar Gains New City Clerk

August 23, 2018

Carol Chicoine has joined the Primghar City Staff as of Monday, August 14. Carol is taking over as City Clerk, which was previously staffed by Wendy Ewoldt. Ewoldt is helping Carol make a smooth transition to the role. Carol has four children; Emily who is going to be a Junior at South O’Brien High School, Alex who just graduated High School, Zach, who just graduated from Buena Vista University and is in the Army working as Military Police in Camp Dodge, and Jeremiah, who works for John Deere in Cologne, IA. Carol stated, “I had been working nonstop for 18 years, I decided it was time for something different.”

Carol is planning on moving to Primghar from Graetttinger, IA where she was the Chief Financial Officer for Upper Des Moines Community Action Agency for three years. Prior to her position as CFO, Carol worked as an accountant for the Agency as well as working for some months doing Human Resourcing. She started working for the Agency 18 years ago when she took on the responsibilities of interning at Upper Des Moines. She took on the role after graduating with a Bachelors degree in Accounting with a concentration in Human Resourcing from Buena Vista University. Carol commented on her new role in the Primghar community, “I really am excited. I love the small town, the friendly people and the school district. Now we’re just trying to find a house in the area.” Carol found that her new role holds some of the same rules, regulations, and funding than her days as an accountant for Upper Des Moines Community Action Agency. Her role at the Agency found her working with a 14 million dollar budget and so transitioning from that to a 3 million dollar budget is relatively easy.
