Kids Kampus Makes Changes To Afterschool Program
August 23, 2018
Kid’s Kampus in Primghar has made a big change this year to its afterschool program. Students will be able to stay at the elementary school instead of being bussed to the day care like in years previous. This change comes after Kids Kampus was bought by the community from the Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in June. The afterschool program is meant for kids preschool and up. Kids Kampus is not looking to accommodate outside of day care kids pending further staff hiring.
According to Whitney Wright, director of Kids Kampus, “The staff has been there many years and are great with the kids and know the ropes really well.” Kids Kampus has been really important for children this summer. The change in ownership was a daunting task, however it managed to stay open even through the transition. Kids Kampus still took trips to the Lakes to Treasure Village to see the play “Cinderella.” The program also allowed kids to visit the O’Brien County Fair and introduced the kids to the animals that were at the petting zoo. The day care also offered kids the opportunity to go swimming a couple times a week this summer. Currently, there are hopes to improve on the day care facilities by improving the infant playground and gain new toys for the kids to play with. The day care provides for children 6 weeks and up and so a full range of ages can be entertained by the facilities. Kids Kampus is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.- 6 p.m., excluding major holidays and weekends.
