Rev. G. Fairbanks Elected Chairman County Red Cross

The American Red Cross, O'Brien County Chapter elected Rev George Fairbanks of Primghar as their Chairman. Jacob Van Zwol of Paullina was elected as Vice Chairman. Mrs. Lewis Neiman of Primghar as Secretary and James Metcalf of Primghar as Treasurer at the Annual Meeting held June 20th, 1958. Jacob Van Zwol, water safety chairman gave some high lights on swimming lessons. Roy Breyfogle told of his classes in First Aid. Mr. B. H. Anderson, Paullina, Fund Drive Chairman of the county was presented a citation by J. W. Alix for his good work.

3-Car Accident South of Town Tuesday Evening

Injury to one driver and damage to- three vehicles was the result of a 3-car crash near the intersection immediately south of "Suicide Bridge," one and three quarters mile south of Primghar, Tuesday evening about 6:00.

According to Sheriff Howard Tiemens office, the panel truck, driven by John Greenlee, Primghar, had stopped at the intersection and had pulled onto the highway and was traveling north when the 1954 Ford, driven by Cletus Elmer Roth, Ashton, came over the knoll and attempted to pass the Greenlee vehicle, but couldn't get around as the 1956 Oldsmobile, driven by Bernerd

Jons, Primghar, and traveling south, was too close. The Jons vehicle headed for th ditch, but all three cars crashed. Approximately $125.00 damage was done to the Greenlee truck; $850.00 to the Roth car, and S225.00 to the Jons vehicle. Roth sustained a broken hand, bruises, abrasions and lacerations. Occupants of the other vehicles were uninjured, according to Sheriffs office

40 years ago - 1978

Arrested in Sutherland

Michael Shriver, 18, of Suther­land was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and 4th degree criminal mischief on-July 7, 1978 after a Sheriff's Patrol Vehicle had Its antennas broken off in Sutherland.' He was relased on $100 bond awaiting a magistrate appearance.

The proceeds will go to the Paullina girls little league Softball fund.

O'Brien County Amateur Radio Association holds annual field day

The Boy Scout building in the Primghar Park was bustling with activity Saturday as O'Brien County's "Ham Radio" enthusiasts set up shop for their annual 24-hour field day.

The event, held in conjunction with the Radio Relay League Field Day, is both educational and fun. Besides learning from the experience of setting up equipment as if It were an emergency situation, the organization members also enjoy making contact with as many fellow radio operators as possible.
