Local Volunteers Take Big Steps

 

Corbin Puhrmann of Paullina spends her Monday morning cleaning the lichens and polishing a monument at Covey Cemetery. Simple tools and some elbow grease do a fantastic job on the monuments.

The O'Brien County Cemetery Preservation Association began work at Covey Church Cemetery in rural O'Brien County. Members have made at least three visits to the restful, country cemetery with an aggressive cleanup mission.

Cemetery Preservation began as an effort to restore Pioneer cemeteries dotting O'Brien County. The process of organizing brought the group to be more inclusive of all cemeteries. They have maintained their priority on the Pioneer Cemetery restoration and improvement.
