Primghar Chamber Gears Up for Annual Cobblestone Days

Kim Rons approached the Primghar City Council Monday May 14 with Chamber requests and updates to put on Cobblestone Days, over Fathers’ Day weekend. The annual event is an early summer celebration filling the weekend with activity and fun.

She requested, on behalf of the Chamber, road closures to accommodate the parade that will run its usual route. The parade travels south on Hayes Street from the 5th Street NW to “the square”. The parade route is scheduled this year to bend its way around the square to the Post Office and then head back up north on McCormack. Everybody loves a parade and registration in this one is easy! All you have to do is contact Kim at 957-2435 or Jenny at Pearl Valley Primghar, 957-3655 or email Primghar@tcaexpress.net.

The car show is scheduled once again. Streets closings were requested to keep both show vehicles and the crowd safe. The car show is planned to be held on Hayes Ave 2nd Street SE to 1st Street NE. Darren Logan is in charge of the event. Check in is 10am to 1pm at the Primghar Body Shop.

An outside vendor show will take up street space on the south side of the square. The vendor fair requires no registration and no payment. If you have “stuff” to sell, bring it, set it out and be ready to make some bargains. You are encouraged to be there before 10:30am, earlier is just fine.

Primghar’s Square will be a busy place Saturday after the parade. For kids, there will be free tatoo’s, a sand dig, where they can dig for quarters, a bean bag tournament (register at City hall.) Tourney begins at 12:30. The inflateables, sponsored by the Primghar Jaycees will be back. The watermelon, beginning at 3:00pm is free. BINGO (no cash awards) will be played from 1:30 – 3:30. It’s all happening at Primghar’s Square Saturday June 16.

The Jaycees will hold races at the Fair grounds starting at 7:00pm. Rons got the privilege of announcing the band for the night dance Saturday night. This year, the band will be held at Primghar Golf & Country Club. The band is Judd Hoos. They will play from 9 to Midnight.

Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital Auxiliary will, of course, host their annual luncheon at the Community Building. The golf course will also host a Friday night, June 15 fun night, 4-person best ball.
