Poppies To Remember

The Paullina American Legion Auxiliary has placed in businesses throughout Paullina. Veterans around the United States living in Veterans’ homes make the paper poppies. Poppies are used to remind the general public of the WWI poem “Flanders Field” by John McCrae, 1915. Following the loss of a friend in a battle, McCrae is said to have been touched by the poppies growing readily in the battle-scarred fields of Europe during WWI.
