O'Brien County Gains New Water Treatment Plant and Wells

The water treatment facility nears completion south of Highway 10, east of Sutherland.

Osceola Rural Water has began building the new water treatment facility east of Sutherland. The plant is designed to increase water quality by removing iron and manganese from the water.

The new facility replaces an old treatment facility that was in use for nearly 40 years, even though it had a design capacity of only 20 years. The new plant will increase water quality by increasing the capacity rate that can be treated per minute. The old plant had a design capacity to treat 725 gallons of water per minute in operation compared to the new plant that will be able to treat 2400 gallons...
